Sacramento Weather Forecast

Wind Advisory through early Thursday with gusts 45-65mph in the higher terrain. First 90s of the year on tap for later this week into the weekend.

SACRAMENTO, Calif — Peak gusts Wednesday reached +45mph in the valley.

The weather pattern bringing the gusty winds will start to shift Thursday afternoon as the high pressure ridge begins to dominate the forecast.

Strong winds continue a bit longer for the Sierra Foothills with the advisory in place until 11 a.m with foothill gusts 55-65mph.

Fire danger will stay fairly low due to recent rain and snow. It's always good to practice fire safety though since winds could carry embers into drier areas.

These winds are helping to warm and dry the airmass which will help get us to our first 90s of the year by the end of the week and weekend. Warm weather continues through the Mother's Day.

Warming temperatures will also increase the snowmelt leading to more runoff through the weekend. Exercise extra caution if spending time by the water. Many rivers are running high, fast and very cold.  Water temperatures in the valley locations remain in the 50s which is far too cold to swim in and could shock the body reducing the ability to swim at all.

TODAY: WIND ADVISORY for the morning for the Sierra. The valley will be sunny and breezy with highs in the mid to upper 80s. Lake Tahoe highs near 60°. Still windy in the morning.

TONIGHT: Clear with lows in the 50s and Sierra lows in the 20s.

FRIDAY: Sunny with highs near 90°. Lake Tahoe highs in the lower 60s.

SATURDAY: Sunny with highs near 90°. Lake Tahoe highs in the upper 60s.

MOTHER'S DAY: Sunny with highs near 90°. Lake Tahoe highs near 70°.

MONDAY: Sunny with highs in the upper 80s. Lake Tahoe highs near 70°.

TUESDAY: Sunny with highs near 90°. Lake Tahoe highs in the low 70s.

WEDNESDAY: Sunny with highs near 90°. Lake Tahoe highs in the low 70s.
