California Attorney General Xavier Becerra provided ABC10 with this statement:
“Our state laws work in concert with federal laws. We work with federal law enforcement daily. We’re going after drug dealers, sex traffickers. We don’t stop doing that. My division of law enforcement is doing that right now. What we won’t do is change from being focused in public safety – we’re in the business of public safety, not deportation.”

Calling California's sanctuary city situation a "disgrace," President Trump threatened to remove U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents from California Thursday.
"I mean, frankly, if I wanted to pull our people from California, you would have a crime mess like you've never seen in California," said Trump. "If we ever pulled our ICE (agents) out, if we ever said, 'hey, let California alone, let them figure it out for themselves,' in two months they'd be begging for us to come back, they would be begging."
Trump's administration has been critical of California's so-called 'sanctuary' law, which took effect Jan. 1, 2018.
Sacramento and San Francisco are sanctuary cities as well.
University of California, Davis Law School Dean and immigration expert Kevin Johnson said Trump removing ICE agents would make California's government very happy.
"And it would never happen," he said.
