Lucky Fest in Modesto | Need to Know

Organizer Chris Ricci calls the 9-year St. Patrick's Day tradition the "valley's biggest pub crawl."

MODESTO, Calif. — For the Modesto area, when St. Patrick's Day comes around, that means Lucky Fest is not too far behind.

Proclaimed by organizer Chris Ricci as the "valley's biggest pub crawl," Lucky Fest celebrates the St. Patrick's Day holiday with 25 pubs, built from the ground up for one day only.

“Lucky Fest – it’s unusual," Ricci said. "It’s not like any other festival I’ve ever seen.”

Lucky Fest is a St. Patrick's Day celebration where 25 "pubs" will be built, but these aren't beer companies setting up tents or any kind of pub that you would see in England.

These "pubs" have different themes with a unique activity and atmosphere. Once you pay for your Lucky Fest ticket, every game in every pub is free to play.

What kind of pubs are there?

There are pubs for "Irish Cornhole," karaoke, "Irish Wine Tasting," human-sized Foosball, Roomba beer pong, game shows, and "Irish Angling."

Some of the pub highlights include:

Jameson General Hospital - This is where guests step into a hospital-themed pub hosted by a doctor and nurse. It offers jello shot syringes and a giant version of Operation.

Death Metal Dodgeball - This pub allows a group of friends to come together and play a game of dodgeball with live death metal playing in the background as a soundtrack. The games run from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Murphy's Pub - At Murphy's Pub, there are table based games like foosball, Cards Against Humanity, and ping pong, but the pub also has a game called "Irish Battleshots," which Lucky Fest touts as being "like Battleship except it's for adults."

“I think the mistake that people make is that they don’t actually interact with the different pubs... so they miss out on all the fun,” said Ricci.
