Sacramento man arrested following 2017 homicide

A 19-year-old man has been arrested for a 2017 murder in Sacramento, according to the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department.

On Monday, Steven Rejon of Sacramento was arrested by authorities for the June 8, 2017, murder of Demoria Ellis-Rivers, who was also of Sacramento.

At approximately 9 a.m. on June 8, 2017, the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department received a report regarding an unresponsive male victim in an orchard in the area of Twin Cities Road just east of River Road in South Sacramento County.

Upon arrival, sheriff’s deputies located the body of Ellis-Rivers, who had a gunshot wound to the upper body. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said.

Rejon, who was already in custody for an unrelated case, is being held in the Sacramento County Main Jail without bail due to his charges.
