I-80 chain controls in effect from Placer County to Nevada County

Chain controls are in effect for I-80.

PLACER COUNTY, Calif. — Chain controls are now required for all vehicles heading up I-80 from Placer County to Nevada County.

The requirement is applied from Kingvale to Donner Lake Road in both directions of I-80.

This will apply to all vehicles except those with four-wheel drive and snow tires.

Westbound trucks are also being screened at Applegate and eastbound as well at Mogul, roughly five miles west of Reno. Drivers will need to have maximum chains in order to pass through.
