Yes, the federal government is funding the California National Guard

Despite President Trump's latest tweet storm, the California National Guard is still being funded.

On Thursday, President Trump tweeted that the federal government "will not be paying for Governor Brown's charade," referencing the National Guard agreement.

But, California's National Guard noted in a later tweet that they received written confirmation from the Pentagon over continued funding of California's National Guard mission to the Southern border.

Original Story

Gov. Jerry Brown says he has reached agreement with the Trump administration to deploy up to 400 California National Guard troops to the border and elsewhere.

Brown announced Wednesday that troops are expected to start deploying by the end of April. He says the federal government has agreed to fund his proposed mission for the California Guard to focus on drug and gun crime, not immigration.

Brown first agreed to deploy troops as part of President Donald Trump's border mission last week, but insisted his troops wouldn't enforce immigration laws.

That launched a back-and-forth between California and federal officials over how the state's Guard would fit into the overall mission focused on border security and illegal immigration.
