Escaped Folsom Prison inmate arrested in Rancho Cordova

Sacramento County sheriff’s deputies found Todd Willis, 52, walking near Coloma Road and Rossmoor Drive in Rancho Cordova just after 9 a.m., Folsom police reported.
Todd Willis reportedly walked away from a minimum security housing facility at Folsom State Prison Thursday morning, according to police.

A minimum-security inmate who walked away from a facility at Folsom State Prison five days ago was found and arrested Wednesday.

Sacramento County sheriff’s deputies found Todd Willis, 52, walking near Coloma Road and Rossmoor Drive in Rancho Cordova just after 9 a.m., Folsom police reported.

Police attempted to approach Willis, but a violent struggle ensued as officers tried to detain him.

Willis was eventually arrested and later transported back to jail after a brief visit to a hospital for treatment.

Willis was arrested in January 2016 with a four-year sentence for assault with force likely to produce great bodily injury, police said. He was scheduled to be released in July 2018.

The Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office will now take Willis’s case, and he will not be eligible to be housed in a minimum support facility.
