Local gun owners react to Florida teens protesting for stricter gun laws

One of the attendees told ABC10 that he respects the teens in Florida who are calling for a march on Washington next month to demand political action on gun control.

Dozens of gun enthusiasts attended the Dixon Gun Show Sunday at the Dixon May Fair.

One of the attendees told ABC10 that he respects the teens in Florida who are calling for a march on Washington next month to demand political action on gun control.

“They have the right to do it,” said Tom Ferguson from Woodland. “Being in the military, we fought to give them that right. I hope they respect that somebody who had guns fought to give them this right – so respect both ways."

Ferguson, who owns several guns, said guns aren’t the problem.

“It's the people. We should have stricter gun laws, but what's happening is that there are a few bad people out there that make it worse for all the people that own guns," Ferguson explained.

On Sunday morning, Cameron Kasky, a student at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, told ABC News’ “This Week” that March 24 is the time to talk about gun control.

“In every single city, we are going to be marching together as students begging for our lives. This isn’t about the GOP, this isn’t about the Democrats, this is about the adults. We feel neglected, and at this point, you’re either with us or against us."
